Sometimes, rather than editing an existing ad, it’s better to duplicate it. This lets you create a new ad using the same assets (images, videos, copy) while keeping the original ad unchanged. Duplicating is especially useful for testing new audiences, budgets, or minor creative tweaks without disrupting your live campaigns.

Why Editing Ads Can Be Problematic

  1. Loss of Testing Control

    • Changing copy, creative, or targeting in an existing ad mixes variables.

    • You can no longer tell if performance changes are caused by the update or other factors.

  2. Confused Performance Tracking

    • Historical data from the original ad merges with the updated version.

    • If a campaign improves, you lose a controlled baseline to measure what drove the change.

  3. Optimization Issues

    • Algorithms in Meta and Google rely on ad performance history to optimise delivery.

    • Editing an ad directly can reset or disrupt learning, potentially hurting performance.

How to Duplicate an Ad in Blend

  1. Go to the Ads tab in your Blend dashboard.

  2. Click the + (circle) button on one of the ads in the library

3. Choose new assets or select the assets from your original ad.

4. Adjust any copy as needed.

5. Save ad.

5. Head to the Camapigns page and launch the new ad. The original remains unchanged.

Using this method ensures you can test variations safely and track performance across multiple ad versions without overwriting your original ads.
